this photo, which is found on wikipedia and other locations was taken at an Akibaoo store, wikipedias infomation section dates the photo as being from Nov 5th 2005 the other location is a japanese wiki which gives some info on “unofficial” merch like this they link and credit the site responsible for creating them as 2chgoods.net it has many listings on the wayback machine
a random 2007 dated capture still displays the same plush seen in the first image (top left) in 2006, the site was still active. but from the beginning of 2007, before entering the site, an info box claims they no longer sells anything, but you may still view the content.
This is the site where goods featuring ASCII art characters commonly used on “2channel” were produced and sold. There used to be plushies and straps of characters like Shii, Giko, and Mona. Hopeful news:
Akibaoo is still selling ２ちゃんねる content on their site some is clearly from booth, maybe they resell or this is normal? Im not sure. but they sell a lot, some of which is NOT from booth, so I wonder how likely it is that they would still stock 2ch themed SJIS merch.
Trying to research from google maps review pics didn’t help much.
