peppers, melons - slugs flatted them over and over.. (settled for store bought pepper plants which grew really well but its not the same) some melons miraculously survived and had super late germinations. too late sadly.
tomatoes again, gigas, cherries & regular sized - grew too many & i dont even like them but everyone else does
red and white onions - left in the plugtrays too long and they got super cramped and it was hard to separate them. had to plant groups of 3-5ish together and they didn’t grow very big. the solo ones grew as big as store bought.
carrots - used a store bought tape strip and they were enormous, the spacing for hand planted seeds looks precise..
broccoli - got too warm and bolted but the sprouts beside them didn’t? i dont see how they could but apparently they can ( all of those i fully protected with netting rather than risk another caterpillar disaster )
spinach - grew really well, but much more than i could use and ended up starting to bolt beet spinach? - grew fine but didn’t like it
lettuce - grew really well too, used lots of it, but still it met its end.
snap peas - also successful, wish i grew a larger area of them
all sorts of herbs - i planted all over the place, most grew well and finally went to seed. my bird enjoyed them
kale, cabbage, cauli, pumpkin, beetroot - planted a bit late, wasn’t super invested but if they fail ill have a clearer vision of the limit of the grow season
(update 2023: kale grew, beetroots grew a bit, slightly small. and a single pumpkin grew pretty big. but didnt ripen before the first frost in november sadly., i cut it up for the compost and found a slug living inside from the hole at the bottom)potatoes - grew in massive container pots but they were tiny and numerous instead of big, a few strays started growing in random places around the garden and they were pretty big
few different flowers - they wilted very quickly and an old lady taught me deadheading. now months later they’re still flowering. which then taught me to seed save. so ive got 100s of flower seeds for next year too now.
strawberries - never produced any runners, i “stole” some blueberries from the forest and they grew. much more fruit would be nice.
sunflowers - planted at the start of spring and left them a little late to plant out because the wind was scary. the ones in the windiest location have stems at least 3x thicker than the others so I guess they adapt well. and they really attracted wasps
next year Id like to move fully to organic non-hybrids. no more sterile storeboughts. for now, garlic season is upon us
